1971 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454

A big-block Chevelle that photographs better than its file reads — strong presentation, an honest amber light, and a block that is not the one it was born with.

Announcement sheet

It runs under the amber light

Announced: non-original engine block and a documented repaint.

The items below are the boundary of what can be disputed after the sale — plus anything our standard says should have been announced and was not.

3 announcements

  1. Engine block is not the unit the car left the line with. Casting numbers photographed and in the file.
  2. Repainted at least once. Paint depth reads 240–310 microns across the driver-side quarter.
  3. Aftermarket exhaust fitted. Original manifolds are not with the car.

Paperwork and history

Title
Texas title in the consignor's name, in hand at intake.
Records
Two folders of receipts from 2009 onward. Nothing before that.
Odometer
Reading is not the vehicle's actual distance and is disclosed as such.

This is the kind of car the amber light exists for. Nothing about it is wrong; several things about it are not original, and a buyer needs to know which before the hammer falls rather than after.

Our inspector spent ninety minutes on it. The paint depth gauge tells the repaint story across the whole driver side, and the casting numbers on the block are photographed in the file. The car drives, stops and idles.

It sold on the reserve in the previous sale. The hammer price is published here as sample data.
