Terms — illustrative

These terms govern nothing. Crossblock Motor Auction Co. is an invented business and this site is a design demonstration. No sale takes place here, no bid can be placed, and nothing below creates a right, an obligation or a contract. It is sample copy showing how a car auction's conditions of sale would be laid out.

1 · The announcement lights

Every lot runs under one of three lights, announced aloud before bidding opens.Green: nothing announced; arbitrable on material misdescription.Amber: specific items announced; arbitrable on those items, and on anything the house's own inspection standard says should have been announced and was not.Red: sold as-is; nothing is arbitrable, including matters not listed.

A blue light concerns paperwork rather than condition and runs alongside the other three. It means the title is not present at the sale: funds are held, no gate pass is issued, and the vehicle is not released until the title is recorded.

2 · Bidding

Registration closes at 6 p.m. the evening before the sale. A bidder number is personal and non-transferable.
A bid is a commitment to buy at that price. There is no change-of-mind window.
Increments are published in advance. The auctioneer may accept a smaller increment to close a lot, never a larger one.
A proxy bid is an instruction to bid in the published increments up to a stated maximum. The maximum is not disclosed to the room.
The auctioneer may refuse a bid, withdraw a lot, or re-open bidding where a dispute arises before the next lot begins.
The house does not bid on lots in its own sales and does not buy for its own account.

3 · Reserves

A reserve is a minimum price set by the consignor. If bidding stops below it, the lot does not sell and is recorded as a no-sale, published with its high bid. A lot marked no reserve sells to the highest bid on the day.

4 · Payment

Hammer price, plus a buyer's premium of 8% ($500 minimum, $3,500 cap), plus a $149 documentation fee.
Payment in full within two business days of the hammer.
Title in a vehicle passes on payment in full, and where a blue light applies, on recording of the title.

5 · Collection

A gate pass is issued once funds clear. No vehicle leaves without one.
Storage is free to the Monday following the sale, then $18 per day.
Risk passes to the buyer on the fall of the hammer. Any carrier the buyer arranges may collect against the pass.

6 · Arbitration

Claims open at the hammer and close 48 hours after collection or seven days after the sale, whichever comes first. A claim must identify the specific line of the condition report or announcement sheet in dispute. Wear consistent with age and mileage is not a defect, and mechanical failure after collection is not arbitrable on any light.

7 · Descriptions

A condition report is an opinion formed on one day by one inspector and is not a warranty. The house does not certify authenticity, matching numbers or model designation; where the file supports a claim it is stated, and where it does not, the vehicle is described as presented.

8 · Consignment

Entry fee $195 per vehicle, charged whether or not the vehicle sells.
Seller commission 6% of hammer, $600 minimum. No-sale fee $150.
Settlement once the buyer has paid in full and the title is recorded.
The house may decline a consignment rather than run it under a description it cannot support.

9 · This website

Lot descriptions, grades, estimates, hammer prices, bid counts, fees and dates are sample data. VINs are deliberately invalid. Photographs are licensed stock images and are not the vehicles described. Forms submit nothing and store nothing. No auctioneer or dealer licence number is published, because inventing one in a real registry format could collide with a working business.
