STEP 01

1 · Entry

Send the vehicle details and photographs. We tell you within two business days whether it fits a sale and roughly where it should sit.

STEP 02

2 · Intake

Deliver the vehicle by the Monday before the sale. It is photographed and inspected here — a consignor-supplied condition report is not used in place of ours.

STEP 03

3 · Reserve

You set a reserve, or you run without one. We will tell you what we think the room will do, and the number is still yours.

STEP 04

4 · Catalogue

The lot goes onto the run list with its number, lane, condition report and announcement sheet, usually eight days before the sale.

STEP 05

5 · Sale day

The vehicle crosses under its light. If it sells, you are notified the same day.

STEP 06

6 · Settlement

Funds are released once the buyer has paid in full and the title has been recorded.

The one decision that is yours

The reserve

Almost everything else about consigning is process. The reserve is the number that changes how your lot behaves before the first bid.

Set one

A floor under the car. If the room stops short, it goes home as a published no-sale with its high bid attached.

Run without

More bidders, because everyone knows it is selling. And no floor, if the four people who wanted it are all stuck in traffic.

Set one above the estimate

A way of not selling a car while paying the entry fee. If your number is above the range, the useful conversation is about the range.

Entry form

Two business days to an answer. On this demonstration the form shows a confirmation, sends nothing and stores nothing — there is no backend behind it.

We inspect every vehicle here regardless. This just saves a phone call.

No data leaves your browser. Nothing is stored, emailed or logged.

Nothing was sent. This is a design demonstration with no backend, so the entry was not submitted, emailed or stored anywhere. On a real site this is where the confirmation and a reference number would appear.

Consignor questions

Before you load the trailer

What does it cost to consign a vehicle?

A $195 entry fee, charged whether or not the vehicle sells, and six per cent of the hammer price with a $600 minimum. If the reserve is not met there is a $150 no-sale fee.

These are illustrative figures for a design demonstration.

Do you publish lots that did not sell?

Yes, with the high bid. A results page that only shows the sales is not a results page.

Gate slip · what this site stores

Crossblock is a design demonstration. It sets no analytics, no advertising and no tracking cookies, because there are none to set. If you accept, four preferences are kept in this browser's localStorage: your theme, your paint chip, your cabin controls and the fact that you answered this. Decline and nothing is written — the site still works, it just forgets your choices when you leave.
